ScrnLimit: Screen Time Control

Effective date: October 6, 2026

ScrnLimit is a screen time app for the phone it is installed on. It keeps your limits, schedules, and usage on that phone. There is no ScrnLimit account, and ScrnLimit does not run a server that receives your usage.

What stays on your phone

The app stores, on the device only:

Which apps you mark as distracting, and the daily cap you set

Per-app limits, work and sleep schedules, focus sessions, and emergency passes

Usage of distracting apps for the charts on Home and Insights, including today, recent days, and peak hours

Opens stopped, slips, and whether a focus session finished

Websites you choose to block

Your language, theme, and whether Reels and Shorts blocking is on

A salted hash of your PIN, if you set one. The four-digit PIN itself is not stored

Whether you asked the app to use fingerprint, and whether uninstall protection is on

Uninstalling ScrnLimit deletes this data from the app’s storage. Android may keep a copy in a device backup until you delete that backup.

Permissions

ScrnLimit asks for each permission on its own, and only for the job below.

Usage access. Reads how long distracting apps have been in the foreground so the daily cap, charts, and widget can work. ScrnLimit does not upload that history.

Display over other apps. Draws the pause, the timer, and the cover when a limit is reached.

Notifications. Sends the alerts you allow, including when you are near the cap and when you reach it.

Accessibility, only if you turn it on. Used to notice Reels, Shorts, and a website you chose to block, then cover that screen. While this is on, the service can see text and view ids on the screen it is checking. It uses that only to decide whether to block, then drops it. It does not save that text, and it does not send it anywhere. It is not used to read your messages or passwords.

Fingerprint. If you turn it on, Android checks your fingerprint before a limit is loosened. ScrnLimit never receives or stores the fingerprint.

Uninstall protection, only if you turn it on. Adds a device-admin step so Android asks before ScrnLimit is removed. You can turn this off inside the app.

Run in the background and start after restart. Keeps the limit watcher running, including after a reboot, when the system allows it.

Battery. You can allow the app to ignore battery optimization so the watcher is less likely to be stopped.

What ScrnLimit does not do

ScrnLimit does not sell personal information. It does not show ads. It does not include an analytics or crash-reporting SDK. It does not ask you to create an account.

If you rate the app, Google Play handles that review under Google’s own privacy policy. The app only remembers, on the phone, that it has offered the rating prompt.

Children

ScrnLimit is a tool for the person who installs it on their own phone. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new date will appear at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after the new date means you accept the updated policy.
